Councillor Don Johnson

Councillor Don Johnson is a retiree who has lived his entire life in the Kipling area. His working life included operating a commercial grain and pedigreed seed farm for 33 years. This was followed by 14 years in agricultural equipment sales. Just prior to his retirement in 2015, Don spent 6 months in automobile sales.

In addition to experience gained in work life, Don has, over the years, served in a number of elected and appointed positions with various organizations. In the area of Health Care he served as the Chairman of Boards of Directors of the Kipling Memorial Union Hospital, the Kipling and District Road Ambulance and the Willowdale Lodge Special Care Home. Don was also the inaugural Chairman of the Moose Mountain District Health Board.

In the area of financial services, Don served as a Board member of the Kipling Credit Union and was privileged to serve as the first president of Plainsview Credit Union. Don was also a member and Chairman of the Farm Credit Corporation’s Appeal Board (Sask) for some 20 years.

Don has also spent time in local government having served as the Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Kingsley # 124 for 6 years.

Don and Linda have been married for 50 years. Their family includes our son and daughter, our son in law and our daughter in law and five grandchildren.
